The Arts Society Westminster continues to support two local schools in the annual Art Bytes' National Art and Ed Tech Programme for year 5 and year 9 students in all educational settings across England. This Programme combines an inter-school arts competition judged by artists and art professionals with a bespoke virtual gallery, augmented reality (AR) tools and in-person celebration events held at cultural venues across the English regions each summer. This scheme is based on 14 years' experience in the North West and is proven to nurture talent, raise ambition, develop confidence and vital skills for future employment amongst other essential attributes.
In 2025/26 The Arts Society Westminster was delighted to support the submission of imaginative artworks from students at Ormiston Beachcroft Academy and The St. Marylebone C E Bridge School. Our Society congratulates all the artists of the top three winning entries from each school. Their artworks are displayed on the Art Bytes website http://artbytes.co.uk/browse-schools.
An article entitled Talented young artists found in Wood schools, which gives further particulars about the participation by The Arts Society Westminster in supporting the Art Bytes' Programme, is available online in a selection of articles from the Spring 2026 issue of the St. John's Wood Society magazine From the Wood at http://stjohnswoodsociety.org.uk/magazines.
In autumn 2026 The Arts Society Westminster will assist the Holborn Community Association (HCA) in sponsoring a new initiative Men's art cabin: creative art for older men 55 plus. This proposal aims to consolidate on the successful outcome of previous projects sponsored by The Arts Society Westminster between 2023 and 2025 with HCA, which focused primarily on painting and drawing to provide creative art therapy for people who were either socially isolated and/or lived with dementia. The Men's art cabin initiative will also build on a recent Male Carers Project arranged by HCA to foster the desire for creativity using additional concepts derived from abstract and digital art. HCA hopes the output from this group will be exhibited during 2026/27 in a similar form to the HCA Community Exhibition held in March 2026 at Holborn House, 36 Emerald Street, London WC1N 3QW.
